Yarden Mendelson, PhD
Psychologist

Yarden Mendelson, PhD, is a clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy and psychological assessment to children, adolescents, and adults, and works with parents, couples, and families. Her clinical work focuses on emotional and relational difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stressful and traumatic experiences, developmental and life transitions, and challenges within parent-child, couple, and family relationships. She has extensive experience in psychological assessment, including evaluations addressing developmental, emotional, personality, and autism-related questions.

Dr. Mendelson approaches therapy from a psychodynamic and family-systems perspective. She seeks to understand each person not only through their current symptoms or difficulties, but within the broader context of their inner world, developmental history, relationships, family system, and life experiences. She views the therapeutic relationship as an important foundation for meaningful and lasting change and aims to create a thoughtful, collaborative, and compassionate therapeutic space that is responsive to each client’s individual needs and goals. In her work with children and adolescents, she places particular importance on understanding the child within the family and developmental context and on involving parents when appropriate.

Dr. Mendelson earned her PhD in Psychology and her MA in Clinical Psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her doctoral research examined the psychological effects of prolonged exposure to stressful and traumatic experiences on adolescents, with particular attention to personality, parenting, and psychological well-being. She completed extensive clinical training in public mental health settings, including child and adolescent outpatient care and adult inpatient psychiatry. Her training and clinical work have included individual psychotherapy, parent consultation, couples and family therapy, psychological assessment, and multidisciplinary treatment.

Her additional professional training includes couples and family therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, autism assessment using the ADOS-2, and equine-assisted psychotherapy. She has also been involved in teaching, professional training, and public mental-health initiatives.
