Meredith Grimes, LCMHCA

Meredith Grimes, LCMHCA, is a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate who works with adolescents and adults using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a person-centered approach to build rapport, highlighting an open, respectful, and comfortable environment. Additionally, she uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to treat individuals who are experiencing difficulties managing negative emotions.

Meredith is passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly relationship violence. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidenced-based practice designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories, encouraging the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements). EMDR is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.

A former collegiate softball student athlete, Meredith received her bachelor’s degree in sport business and marketing from Mercyhurst University and her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Youngstown State University. She completed her practicum and internship at an outpatient community mental health agency, addressing and treating, in collaboration with a nurse practitioner, current and post psychosis, personality disorders, and substance use. Additionally, she has worked with Youngstown State University’s athletic department, connecting student athletes to mental health resources.
